BLOCKv and Edge Network Announce Strategic Partnership To Accelerate Decentralization of Web3 OS
BLOCKv is expanding its commitment to decentralization with a strategic partnership with Edge Network, reinforcing its mission to open-source and decentralize the BLOCKv Web3 Operating System.
Since its inception, BLOCKv has been focused on decentralizing its entire ecosystem, a vision outlined in the original whitepaper. However, at the time, there were no production-ready solutions that would significantly contribute to the decentralization of the BLOCKv stack without compromising scalability or drastically increasing costs.
Now, as BLOCKv enters a new era, the focus is shifting towards fully opening the Web3 Operating System, allowing developers and businesses to create limitless use cases at mass-market scale.
BLOCKv has already been battle-tested at scale, with over 50 million SmartNFTs created and more than 11 million unique wallet users engaging with the technology. The protocol has powered the underlying Web3 infrastructure for campaigns of some of the largest Fortune 500 companies, handling high-volume while maintaining a frictionless user experience.
Over the past years, BLOCKv and Edge Network have crossed paths multiple times. As both teams have pushed the boundaries of enterprise adoption while staying true to the principles of decentralization and digital ownership, this partnership is a natural progression of a shared commitment to shaping the Web3 future.
Why BLOCKv Chose Edge Network
Edge Network is the world’s first fully decentralized cloud, where every service — compute, storage, and delivery — runs entirely on the edge. Unlike centralized providers, Edge operates as a distributed network, eliminating bottlenecks, reducing costs, and improving speed while significantly lowering environmental impact.
Founded in 2013 in London, Edge Network has a proven track record of delivering high-performance cloud solutions for large enterprises, including Tinder, Monocle, or Bauer Media.
Unlike many decentralized solutions that struggle with scalability and efficiency, Edge processes workloads closer to where they’re needed, reducing latency and enhancing resilience. By leveraging underutilized computing power, it also achieves greater energy efficiency and sustainability than traditional data centers.
Bringing True Decentralization to the Web3 OS
The partnership between BLOCKv and Edge Network represents a significant commitment in our journey toward a fully decentralized Web3 Operating System. This collaboration will extend across multiple facets of the BLOCKv ecosystem, starting with the fundamental storage and delivery infrastructure that powers SmartNFT resources.
Our first priority is migrating the storage layer behind SmartNFT resources to Edge Network’s decentralized cloud. These resources — images, videos, 3D objects, and the HTML, JavaScript, and CSS files that comprise the faces (presentation and interaction layers) — require significant storage capacity that isn’t practical to maintain on-chain. Edge’s Storage and Edge CDN provide the perfect decentralized alternative to traditional centralized solutions, enabling us to store and serve these large files efficiently while maintaining true decentralization principles.
By addressing this core component, we’re tackling one of the most essential aspects of digital ownership while maintaining the enterprise-grade performance our clients expect. SmartNFTs will now have both their token data secured on-chain and their resource files distributed across Edge Network’s decentralized infrastructure.
The scope of this partnership goes well beyond basic storage. We’ll be implementing Edge CDN to optimize content delivery for SmartNFT experiences worldwide, significantly reducing latency across regions.
And as we embed AI across the Web3 OS and extend SmartNFTs with contextual awareness and different generative capabilities, we will be aiming to ensure that part also remains decentralized. By utilizing Edge’s AI Inference platform, SmartNFTs will be able to leverage open models running directly on the Edge Network rather than having to rely solely on centralized AI providers. The result will be AI-enhanced digital assets that are not only more powerful and versatile but also aligned with Web3.
This partnership brings together complementary technologies that have developed in parallel for nearly a decade. Our organizations have independently built solutions addressing different aspects of Web3, and together we can create a more complete vision for Web3 infrastructure.
Closing Remarks
For years, we looked for ways to decentralize BLOCKv’s infrastructure without compromising performance. In Edge Network, we’ve found the solution that lets us deliver on both fronts.
This is just the beginning. Soon we’ll announce our most transformative update yet: a new version of the BLOCKv Web3 OS built from the ground up for full decentralization and verifiability of all actions, designed to power innovative use-cases across Web3.
We invite developers and enterprises to join us as we continue building the foundation for the next generation of digital experiences , ones that are truly owned by users while capable of scaling to meet enterprise demands.
